RULE BOOK,
ATLANTIC CITY , AND MUCH MORE...
Myerstown,
PA, February 6th, 2012:
First off there was a slight printing error in a few of the
2012 Rule Books, it seems page 5 & 8 of the 2012
SpeedSTR Rule Book was printed with the page 6 & 7 of
the Slingshot Rule Book. The CORRECT 2012 RULE BOOK
is posted on our website! If you received one
of the mix-ups, I'm very sorry, but I was just
assembling what was given to me and after doing about 60
of them, I wasn't checking the pages after the first 20
that I did. Please do not put fuel injectors on the
Slingshots, they will not be legal.
AC was as they say, AC. Congrats to Simon Egan and the
S&S Speedways Team on their win Saturday night. It went
down to 3 officials making the call with everyone
agreeing that Simon had won by less than a foot. I want
to offer my thanks to Ray Nemeth,Jr. and the Herr's
Snack Food support of this event. It has come a long way
and with the sponsorship from Herr's it has made this an
even more noticed event due to the marketing and promo
work done by Sammons Motorsports in making sure the name
of the race is foremost in many of the press releases. I
even had the pleasure of tossing a few bags into the
stands and the fans thanked me for doing this.
I realize that everyone has ways to improve the racing
and save equipment, but a lot of that comes from what is
behind the wheel. Like I have stated on the Facebook
page. Your Slingshot will NOT cause an accident sitting
on the speedway without the driver in it and sacrificing
your equipment and having no regards for other teams
equipment needs to be addressed. The racing was
outstanding when you wanted to race, it became
unbearable to watch when drivers used their cars as
ramming tools or picks when it came to chopping in the
corners.
There were a few calls that tried to make a point, but
it did not sink in later in the race. The first call was
an aggressive call that actually resulted from a tire
being hit the lap before and not seen by anyone but the
leader who swerved to avoid it but was hit by the car
behind him, resulting in that call. The left turns into
cars heading into the turn resulted in quite a few
damaged race cars and it's time to realize that if you
are the slower car face the fact and give the faster car
room to pass, not chop him, wreck him and you continue
to drive away. This is not what racing is meant to be.
As far as scoring, there is no transponders in place and
it was hand scored by 3 officials in the infield tower.
The lineups are compared under the yellow and you are
restarted from that.I did see a few passes under the
yellow that were missed and that will be addressed this
week. Raceceivers are being used at almost all tracks
that hold a Slingshot racing and for drivers moving up
in class they are mandatory in big car racing, so please
think about making this investment, since it has become
the best way of saving equipment and getting restart
lineups done in quick time.
I want to commend everyone for a more than professional
Fan Fest. Team photos, candy and snack trays for the
fans as well as drivers posing for photos and signing
programs really showed the fans that you as a Slingshot
team can promote professionalism in the small car ranks.
Thanks to everyone. Congrats go out to the Langhorne
Motorsports Team as the Gary Hieber 56 was named the
Best Appearing Car of the weekend. The Herr's Snack Bowl
25 had it all and now it's off to Path Valley for the
1st scheduled outdoor race of the 2012 northeast racing
season as the 1/4 mile oval will be awaiting race teams
for the Spring Fling. The Florida racers already have
about 5 races under their belts in the winter racing
season. The top 30 will get National Points and 31-37th
will get the 20 event entry points from this weekend.
Thanks so much for helping to get the winter season
started in the northeast.
