Myerstown, PA. February 6th, 2012:  2011 All Star Slingshot National runner-up Simon Egan made some moves that even questioned his driving ability in the last 3 laps of the Herr's Snack Bowl 25,but his handling of the S&S Speedways # 55 in turns 3 & 4 on the final lap gave him about an 8 inch win over Matt Carman that had to be quickly decided by 3 of the Sammons Motorsports scorers and assistant starter.

Simon and Matt were in contending positions for a top 3 run but not winning cars with 3 to go. It took 3 tries to finish the race and each time, the leader was the one paying the price of leading the field as it took three attempts to complete the race. Pole sitter Kurt Bettler brought the Scott Miller Motorsports # 66 to the green and lead the first 2 laps ,but a tire moved by a competitor the lap before, found the field shuffle behind him and in an attempt to miss the tire Anthony Perrego clipped the 66 putting both cars to the rear.

RevStar owner Carl Labonte, who started 2nd could not get an outside row restart to his liking and got freight trained sending the Canadian driver back to 12th.The national provisional went to Cody Kline and Cody took the Susan Komen Race For a Cure 59 to the pits with a flat tire. Fast time winner Gary Hieber also went pit side and both drivers could not make repairs in time to rejoin the field.2 laps later would find qualifying winner Ryan Raidline, Mike Butler, Jim Housworth and early race leader Kurt Bettler head off from the racing surface.

Midpack racing was intense with Friday night heat winner Eddie Strada, Ben Whitaker and Mark Sensenig swapping positions every lap with Jesse Hartman going in after a trip to the rear after being a part of one of the earlier yellows. B Main winners Steve Intravaia in the Dunn Hill 2 Speedway # 9 and Shanwna Ingraham both exited the speedway with minor handling issues and took 17th and 18th respectively.

The first late race restart saw Shannon Smith literally stand on the gas and have the lead heading into turn 1 from her outside row restart spot, but Vern McLaughlin II wanted it more and got the Eccles # 12 into Shannon between turns 1 and 2 causing her to spin the Hamlin Speedway 23. Smith's spin found her at the back of the field with McLaughlin II sent behind her for overly aggressive driving. Brett Bieber, who had stayed in the lead pack and was a race leader before being passed by McLaughlin II was set for his moment to shine but slightly glanced off of a spinning Anthony Perrego that saw the drivers behind Bieber and Perrego want the top spots more than they did, with the 18 of Anthony Perrego, who had come back from an early race aggressive driving penalty, getting spun with Bieber slightly glancing the Hentschel owned # 18.Bieber continued on, but was involved in a 3 car tangle after restarting 3rd and needed assistance to the pit area on the next restart.

The scene was again set for a last lap sprint finish that elevated Egan, who only 2 restarts earlier was a sixth place runner into the winners' circle. Carman took the Lentini Auto Salvage # 11 to victory lane, only to be notified that he had been beaten by inches with 2011 Herr's Snack Bowl 25 hard luck driver Brandon Azzalina bringing the George VanVarick owned 17G under the checkered for 3rd. Rounding out the top 5 were Shannon Smith ,who picked up 8 spots in the last 2 restarts and a patient Matt Dealaman in the 07 who earlier in the race got shuffled from 5th to 13th in 1 lap.

Plenty of racing room at Boardwalk Hall as Anthony Perrego,

Marc Daniels and Simon Egan go 3 wide from inside to outside.

37 race teams were entered with all in attendance. Fast Time: Gary Hieber. Heat winners: Eddie Strada, Ryan Raidline

Slingshot B-Main Winners: Shawna Ingraham, Steve Intravaia. Best Appearing Car: Langhorne Motorsports Scrappy's Auto Service # 56.

MOTORSPORTS 2012 ATTRACTS ATTENTION

Myerstown, PA. January 25th, 2012:  The multitude of racing fans that attended Motorsports 2012 in Oaks, PA made sure they stopped at the Speedway Entertainment display for questions regarding the SpeedSTR and Slingshot classes, as well as pocketing one of the 2012 racing schedules.

Big Kahuna video action as well as a slideshow of the Slingshots and SpeedSTR's kept the fans close by watching on the new display created by Rich Tobias. A Wide World of Sports video of Dick Tobias' popular win at Terre Haute in 1978 was responsible in bringing some of the older racing fans to the display.

Rich answered questions from race fans and team owners regarding SpeedSTR rentals and purchasing to the people wanting to know more about the Briggs & Stratton power plants for the Slingshots and inquiring about a proposed upcoming test at Borgers Speedway for all asphalt racers looking at making Borgers their Saturday night stop.

Teams using Motorsports as a parts pickup also got to take their items back home with them. The 3 day event saw many race fans new to the SpeedSTR and Slingshot classes asking some pretty intense questions about race tours, tracks raced at and costs for both class of cars.

Over 300 schedules were handed out as well as some 2012 registration forms and car order forms.

The stand was visited by such racing personalities as drivers Billy Pauch, Wade Hendrickson, Anthony Perrego, Kyle Rohner, Kevin Albert,Jr., Rick Eckert, Bobby Braxton, Mike Mahaney, Accord promoter Gary Palmer, Thunder on the Hill promoter Bob Miller, SpeedSTR driver Brandon Rahmer, the "Voice of Choice" Barry Angstadt, as well as many of the talented Slingshot racers, Steve Heckman, Matt Dealaman, Henry Anderson,Jr., Justin Thompson, Dillon Emmons, Matt Massone and many more.

Special thanks goes out to Kyle Brightbill at KB Graphix in Lebanon, PA for his outstanding design of the new logos and printing of the banners and 2012 champions checks.

SLINGSHOTS & SPEEDSTR'S DRIVING FORCE BEHIND SPEEDWAY ENTERTAINMENT

Speedway Entertainment is currently very busy with new chassis orders for The Slingshot, and The Next Generation SpeedSTR.

The growth of the Slingshot by Tobias and SpeedSTR classes have led Speedway Entertainment owner / founder Rich Tobias to rethink his Affordable Racing Technology slogan. With the costs of racing increasing daily, the Slingshots and SpeedSTR’s still are the most affordable and can offer race teams a chance to show a profit at season’s end instead of mortgaging the family home and car.

Tobias will be using the Advanced Racing Technology slogan in 2012. After extensive research and suggestions from his customers, the “Next Generation” SpeedSTR was launched and an even safer Slingshot with the future looking positive for both classes.

Here is what can be found on the 2012 SpeedSTR that Advanced Racing Technology has helped to create. A new, sleeker body with more frontal down force and a wider adjustable multi-directional top air foil to give added stability for rear traction. The narrower, removable front clip will give more shock mount clearance and the tall men of racing will feel more at ease as the SpeedSTR now has a 1” increase in cage height. This also gives the larger drivers more room to manhandle the SpeedSTR as the full containment seat has become the way to go for driver safety.

The teams will have a choice of the Tilton or internal clutch transmission and more driveline clearance as a cleaner driveline tube has been created. A stronger rear pan hard hoop has been created along with an optional right rear brake assembly.

Plans call for an aggressive SpeedSTR schedule with a planned 13 race Saturday night Shootout at Big Diamond Speedway and over 30 tour events scheduled with a return to Oswego Speedway in 2012.The SpeedSTR teams will be vying for a national championship that will pay $5000 to the champion. All of this for the race ready price of $ 17,931.14.

Briggs & Stratton's new and improved Slingshot power plant.

Since their 1999 creation, the Slingshot by Tobias Series has seen a few copies, but nothing can compare to the affordability and return for your racing dollar in excitement and an opportunity to actually do something many racing classes can not claim….make a profit with a Slingshot by Tobias race car. These self starting race cars showcase driver talent, far more than the wallet.

The 2012 Slingshot teams will see over 200 weekly and tour races on the schedule beginning with the Herr’s Snack Bowl at Atlantic City on February 3 & 4th.

A new tire will be forthcoming for use on the front and left rear. The Slingshot full containment seat has been perfected by Kirkey and the new Briggs & Stratton engines will be on the shelves shortly. Briggs & Stratton have promised more durability as well as a much improved oil pump design.

Authorized dealers are glad to help race teams with engine and chassis questions as well as supplying parts to keep them on their race schedules. Owning a new $7281.32 Slingshot is only a phone call away. With the Canadian dealership RevStar already having to service 16 Slingshots, a future International Series is only a matter of time in getting started.

Road course racing at Pocono, high paying events continuing in 2012,small car tracks being built at Big Diamond and Middletown, return of the Pit Stop Challenge races and one of the best point funds in small car racing give the Slingshot teams a great future to plan on.

Speedway Entertainment will be taking it’s first step in the completion of it’s own Motorsports Complex for 2013 which will bring early evening Sunday racing back to life. Slingshots and SpeedSTR’s continue to improve and impress.
