TENTATIVE AC LAYOUT LINK, SLINGSHOT HAPPENINGS..

Myerstown, Pa., January 25th, 2012:  Here is the tentative layout for the AC Herr's Snack Bowl 25.This is how the Providence track looks and Sammons Motorsports is looking to stay as close to this as possible, pending approval of the Boardwalk Hall inspectors http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rgBD2daLWOg So you can see there is plenty of room to race.

Z's Repair Service has stepped up to co-sponsor the Dunn Hill 2 Speedway August 18th Slingshot Special, making the event $500 to win instead of the previously announced $300.

This will make 4 special events at DH2 for the slingers, including the July 14th Tour events, the July 28th and August 18th $500 to win events (on August 18th, Graphix by Billy will also be paying all slingshot entry fees for the drivers!), and the September 1st "Dunn Hill Duals", twin 15's for the slingshots.

The removal of the assets purchased from WVMP is scheduled to begin Monday, as the WVMP era in the Northern Tier ends and the Dunn Hill 2 Speedway era begins. The tentative 2012 schedule has been released and is posted on the track website, www.dunnhill2speedway.com.

Two practice days are slated for 4/21 and 4/28, with racing to kick off on May 5th with the RC Welding Supply Season Opener.

________________________________________________________________________________________

There is still time to sign up for AC's Herr's Snack Bowl 25.The deadline is a Friday,Jan 27th postmark. We were watching the Providence Dunkin' Donuts Cup race and that track will be how AC is to be contructed with Jersey Barriers in the middle of the straights and a tire heading into the turn, middle of the turn and coming out of the turn.Any legal Slingshot body is allowed for AC.

______________________________________________________________________________________

_________________________________________________________________________________________

The driver roster on the website is used for the driver's name at the time of registration. There comes a time when the driver might move on or be released from a team. There are some race teams that now have "House Cars" or rentals and I'm trying to make those as noticeable as the cars with drivers. Some teams are planning a number and driver change after AC.I will do my best to keep it updated.

________________________________________________________________________________________

The Facebook Slingshot by Tobias Group page is always looking for new car photos, victory lane photos, team photos and information.Remember there might be a sponsor looking through our page and he might want to sponsor a car,he will only see the teams that market themselves. Also track schedules and upcoming events are always welcomed. This page isn't about me,it's about you.

________________________________________________________________________________________

Due to current national regulations on imports and shipments, our order for the front asphalt tires, which was made on December 16th are sitting in the original shipping container at the US Customs Warehouse awaiting approval for clearance and shipping. The scheduled release date of January 12th has passed and they are hoping for it to be on it's way Friday.I am keeping a daily update on these.

Had a few of out Slingshot racers try their talents on the HO racing circuit.Dakota Barlet raced at Hiester's HO Raceway last week and did a very commendable job. They will supply you with a car and controller if you want to give it a try.It costs 1.00 to race.Racing is Thursday nights with hotlaps at 6 ,racing at 7.

_________________________________________________________________________________________

It was a weekend of chatting at Motorsports last weekend and want to thank everyone that stopped by to say hi,pick up a schedule and let me know that they are waiting for the first green flag to wave this season. For anyone that was waiting for the Randy Smith autograph session at the Nazareth Speedway Reunion, you weren't the only one.Randy might have been one of the most popular attendees and stopped to say hello to everyone he knew on his way to the reunion area.It is talented drivers like Randy that have given fans of the sport a reason to continue on being a race fan.

________________________________________________________________________________________

Cole Queensland has left Action Engineering and has taken a full time position at his family owned Deer Creek and Button Buck Speedways. We wish the best to Cole and his successor at AE is hoping to continue on with great service and knowledge in helping the local or any Slingshot racer.

DUNN HILL 2 ADDS SPECIAL SLINGSHOT EVENTS TO 2012 SCHEDULE

Special thanks to Dunn Hill 2 and Billy Maynard for making the 2012 season a go for the WVMP locals. Please give them your support.

Following a recent meeting, Dunn Hill 2 Speedway is pleased to announce the addition of 2 new special events for the Allstar Slingshots.

In addition to the previously scheduled Allstar Slingshot MA Gold Tour and Jr. Slingshot National event on July 14th, the following events will be run.

On July 28th, MEI Smallcar presents a $500 to win Allstar Slingshot event. There will be NO increase in entry fees for this event. MEI Smallcar is the area slingshot dealer, and will be on hand with parts for the DH2 slingshot teams all season.

On August 18th, Graphix By Billy has stepped up to offer all Allstar Slingshots to go racing for FREE! That's right, Graphix By Billy will be paying ALL Slingshot drivers entry fees on that night, AND the event will pay $300 to win!

Billy Maynard, owner of MEI Smallcar and Graphix By Billy, has been a strong supporter of the Slingshots during his tenure as promoter of Wyalusing Valley Motorsports Park.

"I'm happy to support local small car racing. DH2 wasted no time in stepping up to the plate to keep this type of racing in our area, to the relief of the majority of the WVMP faithfu
l lol. ok forward to working with them in any way I can to see their small car program get up and running, as well as grow and improve with time. I've been impressed with the motivation expressed by the track's management thus far. As we were at WVMP, they are focused on making their small car racing program a fun, family

LIST OF ATLANTIC CITY CARS NEEDING REGISTRATION,

SOME TOUR DATES FINALIZED, OTHER QUESTIONS..

Myerstown, Pa., January 18th, 2012:  With over 30 cars currently entered for AC, there are quite a few that need to be registered before Thursday the 2nd.Here is the current list of Slingshot entries that are not registered yet for this year: Azzalina, Beauchesne, Bettler, Butler, Daniels, Heckman, Hieber, Housworth, Labonte, McLaughlin, Nemeth, Raidline, Sensenig, Spellman, Strada, Tetreault, Tresch, Troutschold, Weaver, Whitaker.

Since I'm working as an official for Sammons Motorsports, I will not have the freedom to be at the SE trailer to collect the forms and money. Send them by FAX 717-866-7402 or as an email attachment.

I will gladly handle transactions at Motorsports this weekend. Rich will be setting up tomorrow and I will be there all weekend, not always at the booth but some one will be there. Credit Card payments will not be made until next Monday.

Rich is taking an engine for Henry Anderson and there are currently engines done for Dinin, Emmons, Ulrich, Croker and Maby. If anyone wants them taken to Motorsports we need to know by 9 AM tomorrow.

Rich has added 2 events to the tour.1 being a MA Silver event at Path Valley on March 17 and also July 29th at Path Valley as part of Speedweeks. These originally were not intended on being tour races, but with many teams preparing for AC and then not having anything until late March or April, Rich felt if you wanted a place to race, Path Valley will be ready for racing. This will be an All Star tour race, but all age drivers are invited to race.

The Selinsgrove Tour Dates of May 18 and August 10th have been approved. Since Penn Can is looking to move their Small Car Special to Sept. 9th,would there be any interest in a big money race at Selinsgrove on Sunday Sept 2nd? We would be a stand alone event with the All Stars and Juniors running separate events.

Until last year's Labor Day weekend at Penn Can there hasn't been a Labor Day Sunday show in quite some time and this will be run with enough time that you will be home in a reasonable time to be rested and ready for your Labor Day cookout and final trip to the swimming pool.

Before I give Charlie the ok, I would like to get a general idea of what to expect. I have plenty of time to get this worked out, but Charlie is planning his 2012 Raceway Park schedule and has the PDK booked for a few Sundays.

All rules would be in place, the scale would be set up and we could start 30 cars on that track and not have any problems. We ran 3 non-stops there in the last few years with 16 to 23 cars starting.

Just something to think about. Let me know if you are interested. Maybe a starting time of 1 PM, we should be done by 4.

WEEKEND NEWS, PLEASE STAY WARM..

Myerstown, Pa., January 16th, 2012:  Just a reminder that all AC cars must be registered prior to track time. Even if this is a 1 race deal, since if you are selling the car afterwards, the registration will be transferred and you can add that to the car sale price. I will gladly change driver names on the website driver roster after the AC if you are planning on selling, making it a house rental car or changing drivers. The driver name isn't etched in stone, but the car will be listed with the number and hometown.

Make sure your belts are stamped March 2010 or later for AC. The state is strictly adhering to all safety rules for all classes. Make sure you have a birth certificate readily available for all drivers under 16.

Word from Kutztown is that Janelle and the track staff have met with Fair Board directors and the schedule is being worked on as I'm typing. I had proposed 3 tour dates , those being the Mike O'Pake Memorial for the MA Silver on May 23, the Junior National on Weds. June 13th and the All Star Dutch Classic National on August 1st which also be a part of Speedweeks.

Lindas Speedway will be putting the Slingshots back on a regular schedule in 2012.Great news for the race teams looking for a Friday night racing outlet. Lindas has a 12 year old racing age minimum, since this is not in conflict with any Junior races, if you want to bring your Junior racer (at least 12 years old) to run, feel free to do so, but they must weigh at least 775,like the All Star regulars. Also Snydersville will be including the Slingshots in their plans for this season. After seeing the Bettler Promotion be as successful as it was in mid 30 degree temps, I can only hope that some teams show their support there this year.

Jim Strouse will be the designated tech official at many of the tour races and will work with Rich at Reading and some other racing events. Reed Miller has asked me to make sure that everyone knows that Penn Can is looking to give the Slingshots another great event sometime in Sept. and will have 2 Small Car Sundays. He will start every car that enters up to 36 cars. Stay Warm, make sure you have your AC entry by Friday the 27th.

Brenda and Dave Cordier,Jr. are inviting all the Junior Slingshot teams to be a big part of the Spring Spectacular as the announced payoff for the Memorial Day weekend event will be the biggest in Junior Slingshot racing history. The plan for having both events there at the same day not only gives everyone a chance to race against the best of the best, but it can also help some teams save some travel expenses by teaming up.The $2000 to win All Star Spring Spectacular will again be a Super National in 2012 and these points helped catapult Brett Bieber into championship contention as well as helping the 4B Racing budget.

BANQUET, ATLANTIC CITY NEWS..

Myerstown, Pa., January 9th, 2012:  First off thanks so much for another entertaining banquet, sorry, I wasn't feeling too good ,but the show went on. It was great having Barry and John do their work behind the microphone and also for Jammin' Jimmy Payne for spinning the tunes that had the dance floor hopping. It was great listening to Randy Smith give his thanks to everyone and Brenda Cordier letting everyone know that the Junior Class will return to Shellhammers in 2012 as well as their donation to the Charity Auction. I will be sending money orders to the Shriners Children's Hospital and St. Jude's on Weds. in the names of our champions and the Slingshot by Tobias Racing Family. Congrats to all award winners.

Some questions regarding AC were answered by Lenny Sammons on Friday. There will not be guardrail around the whole track surface. The tire barrier use from Providence will be put into place and it does give you more racing room if there are problems. They are sticking with the NO outside fuel allowed into the complex. There are currently 3 other casino complexes that are looking to accept the room prices that Trump Plaza has given the racers. Also the Best Western, Super 8,Howard Johnson and Econo Lodge are in offseason mode and the room prices are lower now through Easter. Herr's Snacks has again come onboard for another weekend of racing as this again will be called the Herr's Snack Bowl 25 and will be a national event.

Dave Cordier will have the preseason racers clinic at Shellhammers and this is something that is very useful for not only racers at Shellhammers, but for any speedway.

News from Kutztown should be heading our way in the near future. Looks to be the hot spot for midweek local small car racing. Accord Speedway is looking to their Midweek Madness during the summer and Lindas Speedway is awaiting opening day in their revitalizing of the Slingshot schedule this year. DunnHill 2 Speedway is already preparing the small car track for their Saturday night programs after taking the WVMP classes onboard for this year. Greenwood Valley is also looking to give the racers the best possible track surface and a nice payout for the racers looking to become track regulars in 2012.Hamlin will be having another test and tune day prior to their opening day program. The Small Car Series at Grandview is looking for teams interested to contact PJKP Production to let them know of your intentions on running.

I just received this if anyone is looking to buy a used car: 2007 slingshot with a 2011 body..#120..Many feature wins and the 2011 Empire tour champion car...New .040 over engine with 3 races on it..comes with many spares including new Duros.. also have $2500 worth of spare parts..too much to list..$5500 for the car,$7000 or b/o for everything!!!! for more info call Jim Loux at 518-774-4631.

We are now up to 26 entries for AC, don't delay in getting them in. If the TQ and Kart entries keep coming in, it will take some of our entries away. Danny had us at 42,but will drop us to 36 or 30,if nothing is received by the end of the week.

The recent 2011 Slingshot Champions shirt inventory is down the following: 6 XL Tenn. Orange, 6 XXL Orange

I had inquired about hoodies and the printing is not conducive with the shirts since the hand pouch on the front and the neck space makes the printing size smaller. I can do crew sweats with no front hand pouch and no hood ,but would need a 120 piece minimum. I also was asked if there was anymore shirt orders for sizes not shown above, but I will need a minimum of 60 for this to happen in either orange or garnet. Price would remain at 15.00 each.

Hopefully everyone will have the photos needed from the banquet. Dennis Takacs took everything available, if you need photos I have his contact info, just send me an email.

ALMOST BANQUET TIME..

Myerstown, Pa., January 6th, 2012:  The banquet hall will be awaiting everyone tomorrow night with doors opening at 5 PM. We will be here at the shop from 9 AM until 1 PM then it's off to make things nice for the awards ceremonies. The awards do look rather awesome if I must say so myself. Make sure you have your camera batteries charged and your cell phone batteries fully charged if you are planning on taking photos.

Tickets that were not received in person or by mail will be ready for pickup at the door. Sounds like some of the desserts are being prepared by Rich's mother, Mary. Her self named Granny T Sugar Cookies are some of the best I have ever eaten. Hopefully this nice weather will be held over for tomorrow. As many of you know Hershey isn't far from the Hollywood Casino, so if you are planning to make a day of it, the casino is roughly 12 miles away. The Hershey Park Chocolate World is also open.

I will check in with Dave Christman at Christman Meats on Rt 73 in Oley to see if we can count on a great snack tray as in past years. Special congrats to Nate Christman on winning the 2011 Grandview Modified Rookie of the Year Award.

I will see if Ray Nemeth,Jr. has a few of the great Herr's Snack items available for the auction and Door Prize table. Fulper Racing has made some restaurant gift certificates and I will be accepting right up until the award ceremony. I received an email from Nick Timar and he will be selling one half of his Slingshot racing team.

I am selling my daughter's 2005 Slingshot which has 2008 black body (in good shape), race motor has only 5 Jr. races on it since being rebuilt in 2010, new front axle, new rear axle, shock mount updates. It was set up to run the all-star class last year but never touched the track in 2011. I also have a red 2002 Haulmark 24 ft enclosed trailer with 4 brand new tires, roof mounted AC unit, 2 storage cabinets, storage shelf and with inside lighting. I am asking $4500./OBO for the car and $3000 for the trailer. Any questions feel free to contact me by email at Timarclan3@netzero.net or call me at 484-223-9638.Both items are kept in Bangor Pa. Thanks Nick Timar

We are selling the black 42B. It's an '07 with an '08 body and 2 Bilstiens. The motor only has at most 7 races since it was freshened. There are plenty of spares plus new and used tires. I have a spare motor that has NEVER been run since freshened. I really hate to part with this but we are expecting a child in March. The contact number is (908)328-2958 and I will make someone a really good deal on everything or it can be separated. Thanks, Billy Larue

It seems like a few emails have gone to cyber-space as I have gotten 4 email replies asking for answers, when I never got the question. I check the SPAM folder everyday. I do not read the Speede17 emails, that is Rich's mailbox.

DunnHill 2 has gotten the WVMP tour dates for 2012 and we are hoping to see a steady growth at the speedway.

Mike Batz, from Lindas Speedway, is looking to make an aggressive schedule for all classes running at Lindas in 2012,Slingshots included. The redone track configuration made for some tentative racing in the first few weeks, but once everyone got the speedway figured out 2 and 3 wide racing throughout the field was the norm as the season progressed.

Brock Moore Motorsports wants everyone to know, that it will a Slingshot only class at GVAT, no other class of cars will be run as part of the Slingshot program and he is inviting all teams to give it a try.

REAR AXLE BEARING SALE, THANKS FROM MIKE, DUNN HILL NEWS..

Myerstown, Pa., December 22nd, 2011:  From now until January 15th or when the supply is gone, we are having a ceramic rear axle bearing sale. You buy 1 at 75.00 and get the second for 37.50. Limit 2 sets per customer.

I want to thank everyone that has supported the Slingshots this year and in years past. Like I said I will be celebrating my 6th year in January. I realize that some of my daily emails have no bearing on a few of you, but I want to make sure that no one is left out of the news and views, the racers specials and the early day rainouts.

A few times I can be quite opinionated, I have been a race fan since 1958 so I have virtually seen it all. I enjoy the Slingshots, they are entertaining to watch and it does create a great springboard for big car racing. I do not enjoy seeing a driver do some pit visiting for race track issues, I do not enjoy watching paybacks on the speedway. Remember the next time you could be on the other end of a race incident and injury is always a possibility.

With new tracks planning on opening in 2012,there will be a few teams making the rounds to see what will best suit them. Rich has not asked me to be a track helper, so I will continue to visit different tracks and get some photos into the racing paper and online.

I will be stepping back, just ever so slightly, as Rich wants to be more involved with the Slingshots in 2012 and make sure that the racing and the interest continues to grow.

We have built 8 new cars over the winter for new teams and some of the veteran teams that were looking to upgrade and we thank everyone for that.

I want to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. I have been saying Merry Christmas since I was old enough to talk and I will not stop now. Happy Holidays to everyone else. Thanks so much for making this one of the best jobs I have ever had. Looking forward to saying hi to everyone visiting Motorsports and everyone that will be at the Herr's Snack Bowl 25 at AC in February.

DUNN HILL 2 "ADOPTS" WYALUSING VALLEY MOTORSPORTS PARK PROGRAM, Last week's sudden closing of Wyalusing Valley Motorsports Park in Homets Ferry, PA left hundreds of racers, fans, and teams in shock. Most were faced with making a choice between parking their machines or traveling 1+ hours to another facility.

Enter Dunn Hill 2 Speedway promoter Mark Spencer and his team. After just over a week of negotiations, an agreement has been reached between Spencer and WVMP owners Rich Howard Sr. and Billy Maynard that will result in the continuation of small car and kart racing in the Northern Tier.

Spencer has secured all WVMP equipment, much of which will be used in the renovations at DH2. The lighting from WVMP will be installed, and a smaller kart track will be constructed on the infield of the Monroeton, PA facility. The micro sprints and slingshots will compete on the large track. This will allow the team to prep each track more suitably for the type of cars being run on it.

S & A Construction, Excavation, and Trucking has stepped up to assist with the modifications to the facility. The WVMP surface will be hauled in to form the kart track, with some new clay slated to be put down on the big track as well.

Stock car racing will remain on Friday nights, with the small car program taking place on Saturday evenings. As part of this agreement, WVMP track preparer Neil Brown has agreed to offer advice and guidance to the DH2 track crew to get the racing surfaces in shape and ready for action. WVMP promoter Billy Maynard has committed to work with the DH2 staff for the 2012 season for much of the organizational duties. Maynard declined an invitation to manage the Saturday race program, and will not be involved in race day operations. In addition, several WVMP staff members have agreed to work the DH2 program as well. This should make the transition as "seamless" as possible.

This arrangement is as close to picking up the WVMP racing program and simply moving it to another location as any "kid" could hope for on his or her "wish list".

"We love seeing the kids at our facility on Friday nights. We are doing this for the kids. We want to see them continue having fun racing." stated Spencer following Tuesday's meeting.

"I am grateful to Dunn Hill 2 for stepping up to the plate for the WVMP racers. I'm sure there will be a period of transition and some bugs to work out, but I hope the racers will give them a chance and support their efforts. I've had several offers to form and manage new small car operations over the past week, but from day one at WVMP our goal was to bring this type of racing to our area. My main goal moving forward was to see that continue for our racers. I look forward to assisting Dunn Hill 2 with any guidance I can to get this program up and running." offered Maynard.

For 2012, Dunn Hill 2 will be "adopting" WVMP's planned 2012 divisions, pricing, rules (with only a few modifications as needed for their layout and organization), and payouts. The 600cc and Regular 270cc Microsprint divisions will still be getting $50 to take the green in the feature, but once again, Spencer is throwing out a gift... $400 to win WEEKLY in both divisions (with 12 or more cars entered)!

Work is expected to begin right after the 1st of the year, with small car racing kicking off with practice in late April. The schedule, payouts, rules, and other information will be finalized and posted as soon as possible. Watch for news and updates on the track's website, www.dunnhill2speedway.com . Dunn Hill 2 is the place to be in 2012 for "Full Sized Fridays" and "Small Car Saturdays". TWO times the racing! TWO times the fun! TWO times the excitement! This season, at DUNN HILL 2 SPEEDWAY, "How dirt track racing is DUNN!"

DAILY RACING NEWS FROM AROUND THE REGION..

Myerstown, Pa., December 20th, 2011:  I just received word from Pat McCauley at Bilstein Shocks that the champions jackets have been sent out to have the champions names embroidered on the jackets and that the champions photo will be used in an ad in AARN and on the Bilstein Shocks website photo pages. Brett Bieber, Tyler Johnston and Yannick Poirier will be honored at the January 7th Awards Banquet with the group photo being taken at this time. Last years champions Shannon Smith, Tyler Johnston and Mario Page got Bilstein Shock website postings. Special thanks to Bilstein Shocks for their support.

Just got some news from Ktown in that the Junior Class will be added for a feature only event every other week on their 2012 schedule. The feature lineup will be done by a timed dash ,which basically is your hot lap session being timed by the transponders. PJKnap Productions will be the operating force at Kutztown in 2012 with Janelle Stump and Kerry Meitzler staying onboard as race overseer and track prep. The Fair Board has not given the race dates yet, but hopefully everyone can make their plans for Weds. night racing on the Berks County oval.

Billy Maynard sent me a note to let everyone know that he has appreciated the support he got at WVMP for the last 6 years. He wants to thank all race teams that raced as track regulars or even just showed up for 1 race that it meant a lot to him that you called Wyalusing your home at 1 time or another. He is hoping to have some news heading my way, after the new year. We all hope it will be good news for the WVMP area race teams.

The track staff at Caroga Creek are hoping for a special Christmas present this year and that's for Mother Nature to stay home during the 2012 season. There was a time that the Ephratah, NY oval missed 6 straight weeks of racing due to the weather. Tom and Eric have really made the Slingshots feel welcome on their tricky speedway.

Sounds like the Supers at Hamlin might have a few more faces in 2012. The ever growing class will see the 2011 Hamlin Supers champion Henry Anderson, Jr. get his award on January 7th.

Bob Hentschel at Northeast Slingshots is hoping that the race teams at OVDT, Accord and the hopefully soon to be Little Middletown will take advantage of his newly added services regarding body installation and general engine help. Bob is hoping to be available for his local teams that are planning on attending the Herr's Snack Bowl at AC in Feb.

There are some teams that are looking to add race rentals to their team plans for 2012, if you have a friend or family member interested, we will do our best to get you hooked up with one of the rentals in the area. Rental fees and payback percentage is set by each team.

I will be starting my 6th year with SE in January. The time has flown by so quickly. It seems like just yesterday that I was shaking hands with Nick Pecko, Billy V, Steve Hicks, Steve Intravaia, Ryan Smith and Kyle Ebersole after an event win. The names have changed, but the racing still has been highly entertaining and competitive. It's great seeing veterans like Dave McCullough, Dale Kober, Mike Butler, Bill Weaver and Jimmy "King of the Track" Bassett still getting the job done.

With the announcement of the Sportsman Class to the weekly scheduling at Grandview on Saturdays, a few of the Slingshot alumni might be taking in a few events on the high banked 1/3rd mile with Kaitie McCardle, Michael Glass and even possibly Anthony Perrego all being a part of the action in Bechtelsville.

Track news is always welcomed here and I will gladly get the word out on added event, special events and your 2012 racing schedule. Team news is also part of what makes this the popular class that it is. Don't forget the Slingshot by Tobias Group page on Facebook. If you have your car lettered and ready to go for 2012 get that picture on there for the world to see.

A special thank you to Cole Queensland at Action Engineering in Rochester, MN for his expertise in keeping the Button Buck Slingshot teams race ready. Action Engineering is very knowledgeable in what is needed to get your Slingshot prepared for a weekend of racing. Cole is stepping down at the end of the year to pursue job duties at his family's Deer Creek Speedway, but he made it clear that his replacement will not miss a beat.

Clutch shoe cores are being accepted until January 9th at $ 8.00 each.

ATLANTIC CITY CHARITY EFFORTS..

Myerstown, Pa., December 19th, 2011:  Blake Tobias Motorsports has posted the 2012 registration on the website for uploading and printing. Simply click on the slingshot registration menu button and you will be taken to the page that has the form link to print.

The 2012 Driver Roster is now starting with Amber Britto the first official driver listed for 2012 with Kamdin Maby right behind.

Brock Moore Motorsports has secured GVAT as a regular weekly Slingshot track. Billy Maynard is not sitting idly by and is looking to keep his WVMP faithful racing somewhere in 2012.

The current AC Herr's Snack Bowl 25 has 20 drivers listed. I know many of you had inquired about added details with pitting, practice and the actual racing. The garage area is inside the Boardwalk Hall Expo area with all fueling being done outside. There is a paid practice session on Thursday night than ran roughly 4 1/2 hours last year and the Slingshots had about 50 minutes of track time. There is a new track configuration for Feb. that is to be similar to the Providence layout. The actual racing is wheel to wheel around the whole speedway and it is in the drivers hands on the success of the weekend. The top 15 are LOCKED into the show with only practice time being needed until the Herr's Snack Bowl 25 officially starts on Saturday night.

The Sunday Small Car Series will begin in April at Grandview Speedway with 1 race per month slated to go on Sunday afternoons. At the present time there will NOT be a car entry for these events. The good news is also that there will be NO big car racing of any kind on the Small Car Sundays at Grandview. The high banked 1/3rd mile had some great racing this year and for the fans it proved that the Slingshots can put on a highly entertaining racing program. There will not be a time restraint for these races as there is no Enduro starting times that must be followed. Grandview co-owner Kenny Rogers has made it clear that the track surface will be race ready for whichever class is selected to tour the speedway first. Bonus payouts will be given for increased car entries.

I am awaiting to get the final news from Janelle Stump regarding the plans for the Kutztown Fair Speedway for 2012.The Weds. night speedway usually has a 13 or 14 week season planned.2 All Star Tour races and 1 Junior National was submitted to Janelle for her approval.

Borgers Speedway is in the process of being black topped as I'm typing this. The 1/7th mile oval in Saylorsburg will see increased speeds, but it is not to the point of panic by management at the current time. The turn 1 exit area will also be paved and Bob Snyder and Glenn Borger are hoping to make this the premier 1/7th mile in the country. The Slingshots will be one of the classes that will be showcased on Saturday evening. Bobby Stull was asked to return as the chief starter.

Had a nice chat with Steve Heckman on Friday and he is exploring other racing venues with his partner Rich Raidline. These 2 did a great job in revitalizing Borgers the last few years and brought the Slingshot car counts from an average of 6 to an average of 14 on Friday nights. The team that also promotes the West End Fair Super Nationals is hoping to settle in somewhere in the not to distant future.

Path Valley Speedway has been tossed around as a track that might see some action in 2012.More news on that later.

If anyone needs a gift certificate or parts for a present let me know and I will get them out right away. The shirts have been shipped out everyday and I want to thank everyone that is using PayPal for payment, it makes it easier for me. Checks or money orders are also accepted. Here are the present orders I still have in the files. Predmore, Cody Kline, Dippel, Olver, Shaffer and Barlet.

I want everyone to know that if you are not in attendance for the banquet the award (s) will not be given, whether if you are a track champion or top tour finisher. If you can have someone accept the award, we will make sure there is one there for you, but after last year of having to UPS 16 awards out, the costs are escalating and they will just not be made.

Track operators will be given time to discuss their 2012 plans or other topics of interest.

If I do not have any names for acceptance or ticket orders by the end of today, you will not be given an award. This was the same procedure for 3 of the big car tracks in the area and Rich felt that it is fair for all parties involved. Jammin' Jimmy Payne has agreed to be the banquet entertainment. For many of you that have been around racing Jimmy was a top driver in the Penn National / Big Diamond circuit in the 80's & 90's and he does put on quite a show.

The food will be supplied by Muddy's and will consist of 2 meats, macaroni & cheese, baked beans, salad & rolls.

Table seating will be as close as possible or all at the same table up to 9 per table. We can put the tables together for parties over 9 and put other friends with you.

John "The Mouth that Roared" McGill will oversee all award announcements and we are asking "The Voice of Choice" Barry Angstadt to help with trophy presentations.

This is to honor your accomplishments during the season and give everyone a chance to talk with drivers from other tracks or tours, so please let me know. I did get a great response from the email last week and I have the trophy list ready for actual acceptance or a substitute acceptor. Rich feels that the photos of the acceptance should tell the story. Business casual dress is suggested. Tickets can be picked up at the door, but I do need the table counts, so please do not show up unexpected.

Myerstown, Pa., December 17th, 2011:  I will be here from 9 to 1 on Saturday for anyone wanting to get some items for AC, winter maintenance or as a Christmas present. Sorry there will not be any drinks or munchies, but there are a few places to stop for coffee and breakfast near here.

Danny Sammons is hoping for 25 AC entries by Christmas, last year we had 18, but the entries rolled in right after the new year. He will keep our entry limit at 42,but if it does not look like he will get to 40,he will drop it back to 36 and give the added entries to the TQ's and 600 micros. Don't delay in entering. The Trump Plaza is the AC Indoor headquarters and it is only about 200 steps from Boardwalk Hall, rooms are going fast, please check out the 2012 AC Indoor link on aarn.com.

Next weeks hours will be the usual 7:30 to 5:15.We might have an early leave on Friday.

I have shirt orders awaiting shipping, please make arrangements ASAP and I can have them shipped out for the holidays. There are shirts left, if you didn't place a pre-order it is definitely not too late. I did order roughly 6 to 12 extra of the popular sizes and there are some garnet colored shirts that have not been reserved.

Fast Ron has started work on quite a few of the engines that were dropped off last Saturday, so I will try to keep everyone up to date on their completion.

The 2012 Registration will be sent out as an attachment later today, it will also be posted on the website as an upload and print.

Cody Kline has been astounded by the response of the Slingshot Family on the Weaver / Kline Race for a Cure fundraiser for breast cancer. The 59 and 1 will have special graphics denoting the cause.

Some Chinese Auction items have been promised for the Awards Banquet with the proceeds going to the 2 charities of choice by our national champions Brett Bieber and Tyler Johnston.

ATLANTIC CITY CHARITY EFFORTS..

Myerstown, Pa., December 14th, 2011: In late fall 2011, a good friend of the Kline Racing Family learned her breast cancer had returned. Together with Billy Weaver, the 59 and the 1 cars have decided to go Racing for the Cure at the Herr’s Snack Bowl 25 Feature Event in Atlantic City on February 4, 2012.

For every lap completed by either the 59 or the 1 car in the feature event, we are asking for a $2.00 to $5.00 donation (or any contribution you wish) with all proceeds benefiting the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation.
We also have pink wrist bands to help generate donation money.

With your help Bill and I think this could turn out to be an awesome fundraiser and for everyone that has had, or knows of a relative or friend, we are hoping this will help them as well.

Thanks to the Weaver Racing Team, Bill Weaver and Cody Kline #'s 1 & 59.

TONS & TONS OF RACING NEWS..

Myerstown, Pa., December 13th, 2011:

BANQUET

Just a quick follow-up to the banquet email. The award names are being sent to the supplier for the special, tour and weekly awards. If you are not planning on attending, you will not receive an award, unless I know prior to noon time on Thursday. It is a case where there are a few banquets the same night as ours and we will respect that, so please let me know if you cannot attend.

Many tracks have the attend or do not receive an award and I fully understand that you deserve your award for your yearly loyalty to the speedway or tour, so I am asking everyone to please let me know either way so if there is someone attending that can accept, it will be there to do so. If you are planning on picking up the tickets at the door, they must be paid for ,because of the counts to the museum and caterer so we have the guest total as accurate as possible.

We are not giving out plastic trophies, Rich takes pride in his award presentations and these are for you the deserving drivers, owners, mechanics and race teams.

Please let me know. I will be out of the shop at lunch tomorrow.

ATLANTIC CITY, BANQUET & MORE

The AC entry list is currently at 20 and with the addition of our northern competitors it will make for some spirited racing .Carl Labonte the owner and president of RevStar and one of the stars of the Fall Jamboree is one of the entries. Our entry list is about 8 ahead of this time last year, please don't delay in getting your entries into Danny Sammons.

With the proposed new track layout, it should make for some more racing surface to use, thus eliminating some of the tunnel effect coming off the corners. Please remember that if you lock yourself into a top 15 spot with time trials, you only need to run hot laps if needed. For the National Provisional to be taken you must make a time trial run and also the qualifying heat. Remember that qualifying by time will slot you up ahead of the heat qualifiers. I was asked to name the guaranteed starters last year before the B Main so all cars running will be there for the actual qualifying.

Banquet tickets are still for sale, I will be here on Saturday if you want to get some parts and pick up your tickets. John McGill was asked to oversee all award presentations and MC the affair." The Voice of Choice", Barry Angstadt, who has become the template for track announcing and banquet affairs had the same dilemma as I do, but he's planning on attending, but we didn't want to put him on the spot, if he chose to go to the EMPA Awards Banquet. I'm still planning on being here, but my TV show. Strapped In is up for a national media award, with the award presentations the same evening and if it is a winner, I will be more than excited if I get the news there.

We currently have front axle repairs done for VanValkenburg, Clark's Garage (S&S) and Hentschel.

Brittany Wixon, who has won numerous championships in the go-karts at Shellhammers and other venues and was in the SpeedSTR National 11 is looking for an AC ride. She was also just recently named the Open Wheel Most Improved Driver. Her father, Lee, would be willing to help with crew work and other incidentals. If interested please call 484-331-4795.

The Facebook Group Page for the Slingshot by Tobias Series is quickly gaining new members, spread the word so we can continue to grow, with the hopes of getting some new ideas and added fan interest.

WYALUSING VALLEY MOTORSPORTS PARK TO CEASE OPERATIONS IMMEDIATELY

After putting 6 years, thousands of hours of hard work, and thousands of dollars into providing a facility in the Northern Tier for youth and adults alike to enjoy small car racing, we are deeply saddened to have to announce that effective immediately, Wyalusing Valley Motorsports Park has ceased operations and will be closed.

We would like to be clear that this decision is not one we have made willingly. It is not our desire to make this decision, but rather one we are being forced into and are powerless to prevent.

Shortly after this season ended, and just before the banquet, the Howard family was informed that their insurance on the farm was being cancelled due to the race track being on their property. After a call to an attorney, it appeared that the solution to this would be for them to lease the use of that ten acres to Wyalusing Valley Motorsports Park, LLC. It was advised that this would exclude the Howard family from being named in any possible lawsuits were they to be initiated against WVMP. With this risk addressed, it was believed that they would then be able to obtain insurance on the farm.

Not long ago, they were informed by the insurance company that the lease arrangement was not sufficient, and that they were once again being cancelled. Their agent then contacted every company they represented, and each refused to insure a property that contained a race track. Another agent approached every company they represented, and all but one refused. Insurance was obtained with that company and plans for 2012 continued as planned. This week, that company sent a letter informing the Howards that their board had denied their application, and they too cancelled their insurance on the farm. For the past few days, the advice of several attorneys has been sought, and in short there are too many issues to resolve and for us to continue to operate the facility.

The first step would require the subdivision of the property and the sale of it to Wyalusing Valley Motorsports Park, LLC. This alone presents a roadblock, as the thousands of dollars it would take to do so (surveying, title searches, deed transfers, abstract costs, etc) is simply not there. Part 2 of that issue is the amount of time it would take. It took 8 months to get our 2 acres for our new home subdivided off the property. If the process was begun tomorrow, that would put us into August before the porperty were transferred and operations could resume.

The biggest aspect is the liability of a lawsuit. All of the attorneys contacted agreed on one thing. While being an LLC would protect the owners from being the target of a lawsuit, there are still circumstances that could result in lawsuits being initiated and won against them. Taking such a risk and putting what we have worked for all our lives for our families is just not acceptable.

This has situation has developed literally in just a few days. The decision was made just a few hours ago. We are releasing this information immediately to allow teams to explore their options for 2012. We thank each and every racer, owner, crew member, sponsor, fan, and track worker for your support during the past 6 years. We have met many great people, many of whom we have come to call friends, and some that we even think of as family. It is devastating to us to have to take this action and make this decision, but I assure you, we have explored all options and this is what must be done.

Prior to making this release public, a few individuals have been contacted and forewarned as to the upcoming announcement. Interest has been expressed that could result in a local option for small car racing. I cannot speak any further on that matter, so please do not contact us and ask. It is not in our hands.

All track assets are to be sold to pay off existing debt. It is our desire to sell these assets to someone local with the intent to offer continued small car racing in the area. If not, the assets will be sold piece by piece.

Companies that have paid for 2012 billboards, as well as racers that have reserved pits for 2012, will receive a refund of their money. This is all sudden, so we are unable to say exactly how or when this will be accomplished. Please bear with us as we address this situation, and we will release refund details on the website as soon as we get things sorted out.

Again, a heartfelt thank you to anyone that has ever attended or supported WVMP in any way. It's been a hell of a ride. We wish each of you all the best.

Sincerely,
Rich Howard Sr., President
Billy Maynard, Vice President
Wyalusing Valley Motorsports Park

There were rumors flying around about Penn Can taking the Slingshots in, but I will need that confirmed by Reed Miller before any announcements are made. Rich was also contacted by Champion Speedway in NY for having the Slingshots as a regular class. When I know, you'll know.

________________________________________________________________________________________

Saturday meeting recap:

There were 64 attendees for the special meeting and I will try to make mention of a few of the discussion items.

1. First off Rich wanted to give everyone some info and background on why he started the Slingshots and what their general purpose was for racers of all ages. He then thanked everyone for their continued support.

2.Stronger valve springs: When they were used a few years ago it was noticed that they hurt other parts of the engine because of their construction, so he went back to a lighter more flexible spring to reduce these added costs.

3.Aluminum flywheel was being tested by Briggs & Stratton with 3 wheels currently on their R&D program as of the trade show in Indy last week. Many teams said they would go to 810 just to use them, therefore defeating it's purpose for the heavier drivers.

4.DQ's being made public was nixed by Rich, but he did say that making the infraction public would make sure race teams understand that teching is being done and cheating will not be tolerated. Jim Strouse was asked to be a tour tech inspector and when his schedule doesn't conflict, he will attend what he can. Rich approved of the improved track tech at each track and said it will make the racing better and could attract some invaders on certain nights.

5.No added asphalt tracks other than Borgers and road courses. Many teams felt a 1 year grace period for tour races at Borgers should be used. All tires will still be allowed on asphalt with saw tooth being recommended.

6.Chassis adjusters not liked by many. Rich explained it as the drivers that move up to mods, sprints and LM will be using them, so why not learn now. Teams said it still should be left to the driver ability and crew chief to get the car to the front.

7.Suggesting that all tour races be nationals and only use the top 8 or 10 was not accepted by Rich or many in the audience. The use of Regional tours on respecting nights seemed to be liked by many when they plan their schedules.

8.The tire deal is being worked on with a bigger front tire, but all existing tires are allowed.

9.The body rules will have at least 3 more years added from the 2008 bodies, but they must conform to the current style Slingshot bodies, nothing different in styling can be used from other builders.

10.General consensus was that Slingshot racing isn't broke, so don't try to fix or alter it. Race teams want to make sure the costs stay down and keep things as is.

11.Track payouts are not SE controlled. This is something that should be confronted directly with the speedway. Some tracks do have a public posting with car entry counts being used for the payouts.

12.Junior age will be consistent with tracks running the Junior Class which right now ranges from 8 to 15,with 15 used as basically for a new driver just starting Slingshot racing or racing general.

13.The dominant driver question was asked and Rich suggested that track get the engine or part(s) in question to us for further inspection. It was then suggested that each team should be allowed 1 request to ask for inspection of a race team and be present during the whole tech process.

Meeting started at 11:12 and was completed at 1:26.

BORGER'S PAVEMENT WILL BE READY FOR 2012,

2 SLINGSHOTS FOR SALE, ENGINE WORK UPDATES,

HERR'S SNACK BOWL EARLY DEADLINE, KUTZTOWN, GRANDVIEW...

Myerstown, Pa., December 8th, 2011:  Just had a nice chat with Bob Snyder, who said he will be part of the promotional staff at Borgers Speedway in 2012.Bob is quite well known for his great work behind the camera and will take some of his racing knowledge to a new level as he will be considered the Asst. Promoter. Plans for Borgers are not completely etched in stone right now, but they are under contract to run only on Saturdays and must have the complete show checkered by 10 PM. They have been offering clay for speedways, just by coming and hauling it out.

Here are some of the plans. Karts will be run during the afternoon hours and are being slated to have a time limit that will not exceed a 3 PM pit clearing schedule. Slingshot, micros and other added classes will then be allowed pit entrance and a proposed 5 PM hot lap session is planned. Right now they are looking to combine the Juniors and All Stars as 1 class with transponders and Raceceiver's being required. Bobby Stull will be back as the starter and pit pass and entry fees will remain the same from 2011.

The pit and grandstand passes will be allowed all day use so if you are there for the karts, you will not have to re-pay for the night time programs, you just cannot take any of the bigger class trailers into the pits until they are cleared out.

A mid-April opener is being planned with a 2 week test and tune session giving teams a chance to make set-up notes and fine tune their racers in for the new track surface. Bob has agreed to 2 tour dates for 2012 and since they are running on Sat. only, we will try to have the dates finalized soon. The final feature of the evening must be started at 9 PM and NO LATER. This will give everyone a chance to be on the road before 10:30. Anyone interested in more info or want to sponsor a night at Borgers please contact Bob Snyder at bobsnyderphoto@enter.net

2 cars are for sale at the current time. The asking price are $4500 each and they are 2007 chassis', one with an older style 2005 body and the other has a 2008 body. The 2005 body was strictly used at AC and driven by Todd Dippel and the 2008 body was run by Anthony Perrego at the Ft. Wayne Rumble Series events in 2007 and 2010.

If interested and want more details, please call Tommy Perrego at 845-541-2004.

For everyone attending on Saturday, please make sure that if you are dropping off an engine for work, we know what it is here for, top end, complete rebuild or a leak down and suggestion. The shop will be open around 9 AM with the meeting being planned for 11 AM. Engines are done for the following: Bettler, Boughton, McGill, Hoch, DuBois.

Parts pickups are ready for Hennessy and Friedman.

Today is the early entry deadline postmark for the Herr's Snack Bowl 25 at AC. Save $30 by getting it sent out before midnight. Entries are ahead of last year by 7 at this time last year.

Word from Kutztown will be forthcoming very shortly. Janelle said that she is awaiting word from the Fair Board on the opening and season ending dates. I currently have the Mike O'Pake Memorial slated for May 23rd with the Dutch Classic listed as part of Speedweeks on August 1st.June 13th is slated for the Junior National.

I still would like a quick response about banquet attendance so we have enough tables set up and also to plan for the amount of food and drinks needed. It looks like we will be having Miller Lite for the beer drinkers. The cola, lemon-lime and ginger ale sodas went over rather well last year, If I get enough requests for a Mt.Dew type we will have than also.

Small car racing is returning to Grandview in 2012 with monthly races and the Big Money Showdown to end the season. Racing will be Sunday afternoons.

RACING NEWS A PLENTY, SOMETHING TO CATCH

EVERYONE'S EYE IN THIS EDITION...

Myerstown, Pa., December 6th, 2011:  Brock Moore Media Motorsports would like me to pass along that he has 2 dates lined up for 2012 with a date currently planned for OVDT on August 18th and the Night of Champions Nationals at GVAT on Oct. 20th. He is looking into increasing the payouts as sponsorships and entry costs are being finalized.

The 2102 tour schedule is done with the dates selected being sent to the tracks involved. We had received a request for a racing date at Limerock Speedway, south of Rochester, NY which as some of you pointed out is closer to WVMP than it is to Caroga Creek. Champion Speedway in Owego, NY is looking to have a date for the Slingshots. We need to make sure we can put a show on for the fans if I proceed to add this to the Empire Region.

The Button Buck teams will have 3 nationals and a Super National this season.

We will also be adding the "Free Pass" to a few selected nationals. The Free Pass will see a full point total be given to the feature finishers with no deductions for minimum car counts. This is being done to attract some borderline teams that were worried about losing points if they made the 3 or 4 hour ride to a few of these races. The 3 current selected Free Pass races are Aug 18th at Button Buck, the August 25th Caroga Creek and the Oct. 20th GVAT. ATLANTIC CITY IS A NATIONAL. It is NOT a Super National or Pit Stop Challenge.

Lindas Speedway is looking to bring the Slingshots back with more shows for 2012. The added interest from many area teams and a 2012 point fund sponsor have given Lindas track operators a renewed interest in giving the race teams a Friday night track in the area along with Snydersville Raceway. With Borgers being obligated to only a Saturday night plan of attack, this should see a major boost in entries for these 2 tracks.

Brenda and Dave Cordier at Shellhammers will be extending an invitation to junior race teams in the area that were part of the Borgers combined Friday class that they will have a Junior Class in 2012.The junior class at Shellhammers is a paying class and has seen growth during the 2011 season. They also have decided to include the Junior National in the same date as the Spring Spectacular to help with travel issues and hope that some teams can pair up to save expenses. Dave and his officiating staff were here to get some pointers and suggestions on teching as Dave is looking to keep their playing field level and have random car (s) report to tech after their night on the 1/8th mile is completed.

Caroga Creek will really be hoping Mother Nature stays home on Friday nights as she took at least 6 wins there this year. Tom and Eric are also experiencing some growth and they are looking to make sure that all teams enter the grounds on the same playing field.

Randy & Denise Smith had another gala affair as the Hamlin Speedway banquet was another sellout and their plans for 2012 are in full swing. Randy will again work to keep the 1/5th mile clay oval in the best racing conditions for his loyal following. The car counts have been the best in the area and the Supers Class is also gaining a stronger following for the older lads and lasses that want to get behind the wheel of a race car.

Accord Speedway will be planning on their Weds. Night All Star and Junior Slingshot programs and with the possible addition of a small car track being built in the historic Orange County Fair Speedway, the Slingshots will have 3 options to race all within a 45 minute travel time with OVDT being included.

The Weds. night Kutztown Fair Speedway promotional team for 2012 has not been announced, but I'm assuming that with an average growth of 6 cars per week, the Slingshots will again be part of their high speed triple header every Weds night from May to August. The idea of not running the All Star National during Fair Week, actually was a blessing and this years proposed August 1st running will again be part of Speedweeks.

Billy Maynard is hard at work in getting his track surface and layout to produce some more spirited side by side and hopefully 3 wide racing at the Wysox, PA oval. Wyalusing has been one of the best paying tracks in the Slingshot ranks and Billy is hoping it will continue. The idea of dropping the Juniors has been announced. If the Junior Class can have a steady weekly entry, it will continue.

Selinsgrove, Penn Can and Paradise are still onboard as tour tracks and with the re-addition of GVAT the travel times to race a Slingshot have been greatly reduced.

It would be nice to get the wheels turning at a speed plant in NJ on a regular basis, but we have to be content on hopefully having a special show (s) at Bridgeport or New Egypt.

Rich will be using some of the suggestions for the meeting on Saturday and the invitation is still open for 2 members of each team to attend. I am on my 2nd tabulation paper and it seems like the use of an in car chassis adjuster is split among the voting. Rich will describe what it is and what it can do at the meeting on Saturday.

The road course voting has closed up. Here is why I asked this. We have been asked to race at the Pocono road course that is also used for some of the driver classes and they had offered us a few Sunday dates. The proposed races on the front straightaway were put on hold, due to some of the race teams not liking our tire compound on the speedway before the ARCA or NASCAR races.

Here was the reason I had asked if anyone was interested in road course racing. We are looking to possibly have a Sunday afternoon at Pocono on the infield road course used by the sport karts. Here is a video of the basic action on the track. The chicane and hairpin tires would be eliminated and it would be racing around the actual course with no additions. http://www.877stockcar.com/videomedia/Team%20ProKart%20Racing%2008.mov This would be closer than the NJMP events of a year ago.

So for the 37 road course yes voters, this was what we were planning on. For the no voters, maybe it will change your mind.

The Pit Stop Challenge races have taken a strong turn to the no side. Rich was going to have 4 scheduled for this year, but it looks like it might be cut down 2, if this trend continues. I realize that a few of the teams come to the track with the owner, driver, pit crew and tire changer being the same person. We have had some people volunteer their services at these races if someone needs a tire changer.

The aluminum flywheel seems to have the most attention and for quite a few reasons. One being why can it only be used for an 810 and over team, another was some teams would make their car weight 810 to use it. Another is now an added cost and some of the complaints were that if one of the teams becomes completely dominant how do we even out the playing field. I personally feel that for the last 11 years the steel was used, there was not one single complaint until the Run What You Brung shows and they were used. What flywheel won the race, the steel one. This will be a topic of discussion on Sat. Since everyone is so cost conscious a new aluminum flywheel will cost roughly 279, a steel is 145.

Air pressure rule has found the last 22 out of 23 stay with no air pressure rule for 2012. Current tabulation is 17 for a rule, 82 wanting it open. The tour bonus points found that many teams would like the added points to help encourage car counts and bring in the tour regulars. Changes: stronger valve springs, better track tech, have an official tech official for tour races, include Mahoning and Mountain in with an asphalt tour ,now that Borgers is going with that track surface. The public announcing of a DQ'd team and the infraction has been on almost everyone's responses since I sent out the email last week. There were a few suggestions to use all tour race points to crown a national champion. They are still coming in and I'm tabulating every vote and writing down every suggestion.

The overwhelming reply to what everyone likes about the Slingshots are they ARE AFFORDABLE and they can be driven by a driver of any age. A $10 pit pass and $25 entry will give you the best racing times of your life and still have a chance to make some money when the night or season is over. Quite a few replied that they feel the Slingshot track owners want their race teams to return and try to accommodate them as best they can. Easy maintenance and the fact that the wallet is less important than the driver or the crew chief.

The Fall Jamboree suggestions are incredible. Reading, OCFS, Bridgeport and Selinsgrove's Raceway Park are the current favorites. Still accepting votes and suggestions.

Thanks for the overwhelming response, the Slingshot Class still is the best class going today.

ATLANTIC CITY EARLY ENTRY DEADLINE,

RACE TEAM IN NEED FOR USED JUNIOR CARB...

Myerstown, Pa., December 5th, 2011:  Just wanted everyone to know that the early entry deadline for the Herr's Snack Bowl 25 at AC's Boardwalk Hall is quickly approaching. Anything postmarked after Thursday night will be upped from 50 to 80 and if there are any spots left after Jan. 27th it will be 100.

The entry list for the Slingshots has been raised and we will be allowed the 1 provisional from the final 2011 All Star National points. Qualifying efforts must be made since starting positions are very critical for this race.

The Gambler's Bonus is also being offered which will increase the winner's share from 500 to 1500.Please make sure you have that marked on the entry.

Thursday night practice will be a paid practice that can be bought at Thursday sign-in.

The track layout as of the middle of November was to be wider with no guardrail being used and a tire barrier in place similar to Providence which had some steady 3 wide, safe racing. The beating and banging is in your hands, not ours, but I do call it as I see it when asked about making a call or no call.

The official lodging area is Trump Plaza which is about a 200 step walk from entrance to entrance. Parking in the Trump Plaza lot is 5.00 on a Thursday and the car does not have to be moved until Sunday morning.

If anyone has a used, legal, ready to use JR. Carb for sale ,Lance Hoch is looking to buy 1.His contact # is 484-955-9753.

Just got the confirmations regarding the food, Museum hours for our banquet and the adult beverages. The food will be supplied by Muddy's which is a fantastic BBQ business along Rt 12,just outside of Temple, PA. They are looking to have 2 lines for serving this year and our menu will be smoked chicken and beef brisket, garden salad, mac & cheese and baked beans.

We will have exclusive museum hours those being from 5 until 10:30,with the banquet needing to officially close at 11 PM. I am hoping to have something set up in the lobby for everyone that are picking their tickets up there. I have already begun to mail them out. The food serving will begin at 6 with award presentation being slated for 7:15.

John McGill has been asked to serve as the banquet MC and I will do my best to be as far behind the scenes as possible. John and I will be getting together as I have done in the past with Barry to make sure things go as smoothly as possible. Barry Angstadt who has served as our previous MC and is second to none in his track announcing duties, might have alternate plans. He has been extended media credentials and if he is able to attend will do his fine job of submitting the info in his AARN column.

There will be Miller Lite available as well as soda, water and coffee.

We have been very fortunate to have some very charitable race teams, track operators and families that come forward with Door Prize and Chinese Auction donations. The 2 charities of choice by our national champions are the Shriners Hospital for Children of Philadelphia in All Star champion Brett Bieber's name and the St. Jude's Hospital for Children in Junior national champion Tyler Johnston's name. I will also include the Slingshot by Tobias Racing Family on the donation forms.

Since many of the photos end up on the SE website, southjerseydirtracing.com, various newspapers and racing papers, please try to dress as comfortably as possible, but no t-shirts and tank tops. I'm not going to put the Ernie Saxton & Checkered Flag Fan Club must wear a tie or dress rule in effect, but please be dressed respectably.

Everyone wanting to take photos of all or part of the awards ceremony, the floor will be open, but please be there for the presentation.

If a track wants to have schedules placed on the tables, I'm all for it. The more news each track gets out to everyone, the more successful your season can become.

Ticket orders are being taken by phone or by email. Seating will be in groups of 8 or 9 and if more, I will put 2 tables together or directly side-by side.

RECENT NEWS..

Myerstown, Pa., November 18th, 2011:  Since no one responded for a trip to the shop tomorrow, I will not open up. Rich is at the Parts Peddler show in Syracuse, if anyone is planning on heading there, stop by and say hi.

Hope everyone attending the Hamlin Speedway Banquet tomorrow night has an enjoyable time. My visit to the Hamlin Banquet was a fun night with a few surprises always thrown in. Have fun and congrats to all award winners and champions.

Please make sure you stay safe and have a Happy Thanksgiving next week.

AC Herr's Snack Bowl entries are starting to filter in to Sammons Motorsports. The entries do not come to us, so please make sure you have the right mailing address.

All the details can be seen at aarn.com on the AC Indoor link.

Caroga Creek Speedway celebrated their 2011 season and taking Rookie of the Year honors was Lydia Rueckheim and Jack Bublak was the Hard Charger.

The first driver to be inducted into the Caroga Creek Hall of Fame, Jessica Zemken was in attendance. Jessica, known for her nickname "Punkin" started her racing career at Caroga Creek Raceway when she was 8 years old. She came from a racing family as her father Ray is a 30 year veteran of the modified division at area speedways. Jessica earned many titles in the go-kart ranks, eventually moving up to the sportsman and modified divisions before moving into the sprint car ranks. While on the road one night she competed with and beat NASCAR star Tony Stewart who recognized her ability and funded her career. During 2011 over 450 racers competed in the World of Outlaw Sprint series and Jessica is listed on the WoO website as being 28th in points. Jessica spoke of her rise thru the ranks and of her plans for the future. She was warmly greeted by those in attendance, and most waited in line for her autograph at the end of the program. Co-promoters Eric Miller and Tom Hall presented Zemken with one of 2 duplicate plaques , with the second one to be displayed in the Hall of Fame at the Speedway.

RECENT NEWS..

Myerstown, Pa., November 15th, 2011:  Just a reminder that the Herr's Snack Bowl 25 entries are posted on www.aarn.com and the Slingshots are being limited to a maximum amount of entries with additional ones that will be held in case of no-shows.

All NJ Safety rules are in effect.2 year maximum stamp date on belts, neck collar or Hans device required, drivers between 14 & 16 must have birth certificate, driving career resume' and parent or guardian signed release. SE type fuel cells have been legal, foam was not checked but they might ask if you have some along. No fuel will be allowed to be brought in. Thursday night practice can be paid at Thursday sign-in if you are entering on Thursday.

VERY IMPORTANT: DO NOT tamper, remove or re-tape your pit wrist band. They check and if caught, you will be asked to purchase a new one. If you have team info, please get it to me and I will make sure the track announcers have it for the weekend or just send it to earl@aarn.com with the subject line AC Slingshot Team Info.

Last year the provisional's did not have to run the B Main, Danny is planning on the same thing this year, but you must run time trials and your qualifiers if you do not make the top 15 to be eligible for the added spot. Since that falls back on me, I will just say that I will have this years final standings along and go right down the line until the driver is selected.

Current plans are calling for a new track layout with tires on the inside instead of guardrail. I do not believe it will be like Ft. Wayne's easy to navigate layout, but should be a big help in eliminating the recent 1 car spin turning into a 6 car pileup.

I say this a lot, but it is quite true, you cannot win the race on the first lap, but you can lose it. This is our Daytona in relation to fans and news coverage, please be responsive if asked for an interview or photos. Fan fest can be a great time to attract new fans and in some instances, sponsors, please try to keep the bad language back in the hot chute and pit area and not in the public eye.

The Shellhammers Awards Banquet was a major success with Brett Bieber and Dakota Barlet named the 2011 Point Champions. Shellhammers has an early season seminar and driving class that does more than just put your car on the track for a few laps. When their 2012 schedule is prepared, please try to take advantage of this, you will not be disappointed.

Randy and Denise Smith are spending countless hours making sure that all attendees of the Hamlin gala, have a great time, treasure their well deserved awards and prize money. Randy will be getting some medical attention soon, We all want to wish Randy the best and for a speedy recovery so he can resume his duties at S&S and Hamlin.

If tracks would like me to get out the special award winners and other special news ,send me an email. The drivers, owners and race teams deserve the accolades for another hard fought season during weekly and touring races.

Billy Maynard is one of the track operators that does not like to be idle. The overseer of Wyalusing Valley Motorsports Park already is looking at ways of improving the speedway and an overall improvement in how the races are run at the Wysox, PA oval. Billy has one of the best payouts per entry at WVMP and we have slotted the 1/5th mile for another All Star Regional / Junior National combo date.

The Brock Moore Motorsports Media Productions will get the October 20th National / Junior National / MA Gold date. The current plans call for the Race of Champions All Star winner getting at least $400.

It seems like the suggestion for a Junior National at Snydersville or Selinsgrove has met with much approval. Some of you want a race at both tracks.

Congrats to former Slingshot hot shoes Kyle Rohner and Anthony Perrego on their 1-2 run at Penn Can on Sunday in the Crate Sportsman class. Tyler Dippel also was a top 12 runner.

Rich will be at the Parts Peddler Show this weekend in Syracuse ,NY ,if anyone wants parts, body panels or tires to be picked up there, I need to know by 8 AM Thursday morning.

I have tentatively added a date for the Empire Region at the proposed OCFS small car track. From the sounds of things in that area, work has already begun with a plan of attack for later Sunday afternoons. More on that as we hear from them.

Quite a few website emails from fans in attendance at NES for the Fall Jamboree that wanted me to let everyone know they were highly impressed with the racing, respect for equipment and presentation of a quality racing program.

Shop hours for next week will be known soon as Rich allowed us Black Friday off last year. I will be attending the Grandview Speedway Banquet as an honored guest on the 19th,but if I have enough response, I will open on Saturday from 9 AM until noon, if anyone wants to do some early Christmas shopping or just need some parts for winter work or AC. Engines can be dropped off as well. Please call or email me.

Still taking votes for the 2011 Special Awards in Best Appearing Car, Sportsmanship, Hard Luck and Rookies of the Year.

Gift certificates are available and can be picked up or mailed out.

SLINGSHOT UPDATES, AND MORE..

Myerstown, Pa., November 11th, 2011:  I know the reorganization and question meeting will be in December but while I'm working on the 2012 schedule, I would like some input, both good or bad on a few ideas, I have going through my head for the Juniors next year.

This year was our most attended Junior National Tour since 2008.Please think about these and get back to me. I promise I will not send the army to your door:

The proposed 2012 Junior National Schedule

May 27 Shellhammers (same day as the All Star Spring Spectacular, a Sunday)

June 13 Kutztown (Weds.)

June 23 WVMP (Sat., run last year at Hamlin's break)

Aug 5 Reading (Sunday)

Sept 15 Hamlin (Saturday)

Sept 29 Accord (Saturday with King of the Catskills, pending track approval)

Oct. 20 GVAT (Saturday, all weekly tracks could be done by then)

These are tentative dates from this years races.

Questions for the Junior Teams:

1.Should weekly track points be used as a bonus or just the national race points?

2.Instead of using track points, should a bonus points per race entered be used?(10 points per race)

3.Would you like Snydersville or Selinsgrove to have a Junior National? Snydersville runs Friday nights and is an 1/8th mile with slight banking, Selinsgrove would be a Friday night and is a big spacious 1/5 mile.

4.Is a 1 race drop a good idea? I realize vacations, sickness or a family function could keep you away for a race. Everyone would get 1 drop, either a missed event or a bad race finish. If you do not make 1 race, that will be considered your drop.

5.Anyone object to the 8-14 age limit for the Juniors? This is what is used at most weekly tracks.

Open to questions, comments, complaints and most of all suggestions.

The 2 National Champions have decided on their Chinese Auction proceeds to go to the following charitable functions. Tyler Johnston will be seeing his name as the title donator to St. Judes Children's Research Hospital. Brett Bieber has selected The Shriners Hospital for Children in Philadelphia. It provides free orthopedic and burn care to children under 18. Brett's name will be the title donator.

All of the money we take in from the items will go to these 2 outstanding organizations. It is contributions from the Slingshot Family that make this work. Already I have had responses from Fulper Racing, Dippel Family Racing. Lisa Gray and Shellhammers Speedway. We will also be donating 3 free inspections for 2012.Last year's auction was another success and I want to thank everyone that donated, purchased tickets or just made a monetary donation.

It currently looks like another full season at Lindas Speedway in 2012.Many teams have expressed interest in the 1/4 Jonestown, PA oval and it looks like at least a dozen races will be on the 2012 agenda. The current tour schedule is planned for 3 stops there, those being April 20,July 27 and the Lebanon Valley 50 currently dated for Sept. 22nd.

Sounds like the upcoming Shellhammers and Hamlin Banquets will be well attended by the Slingshot teams that will accepting their weekly track awards.

Working on a tentative tour schedule right now. Hopefully will be readied for track approval next week.

SLINGSHOT UPDATES, AND MORE..

Myerstown, Pa., November 10th, 2011:  Just got the news that 2011 Hamlin Junior champion and 2011 Junior Great 8 third place finisher Dylan Martin swept the Novemberfest events at Oakland Valley Dirt Track last weekend. It was Dylan's first trip to OVDT and after a few laps on the speedway, he knew what changes had to be made to get to the front.Congrats to Dylan and the Mark Gray prepared # 33 team.

Banquet ticket printing has been ok'd and we should be seeing them early next week. I will gladly try to keep everyone at the same table per your request. It will be 8 to a table, but I can slot in a 9th person if requested. Banquet date is Saturday night January 7th at the AACA Museum. We are now allowed to open the banquet at 5 PM instead of 5:30.If Rich doesn't have me running ragged, beforehand, I will try to be in the lobby for ticket pickup so you can walk the museum before banquet time. It is a very interesting display of automobiles from the early days until the present time. Rich is looking to have Muddy's as this years caterer. His current menu planner will be chicken and brisket with garden green salad, mac & cheese and baked beans. Beer will be available for 21 & over with soda and water also being served. Cash bar also is planned. We will try to have a coffee pot going like last year. It will be an AYCE buffet style with a planned 2 serving lines instead of 1.Ticket prices are 45 for anyone 15 and over and 37 for anyone 14 & under. This will include your museum entry.

The final artwork is being done on the 2011 Champions shirts, as I have been reminding everyone, please give me a quantity with your sizes so I don't run short on some and have too many for the others. When I get the proofs, I will let everyone look them over. Special thanks to Alison and Amy at Weikel Racewear for working on this project and having it completed for Christmas shipping.

Thank you to everyone that has been sending in Special Awards votes for the requested categories. The closest race right now is the Best Appearing Car Award. I will be accepting votes until the special award trophy order must be placed on Dec. 14th. Columnist Kyle Hardner and one of the best photographers in the area, Bob Snyder joined in with their opinions and they were well received.

The 2011 National Tour recap is now posted on the speedwayentertainment.com website and I would like to give my thanks to everyone that sent me an email saying they liked the little feature written. Headshots of the 2 national champions were sent to AARN, use of them is up to their editors, but they do have them.

Bob Hentschel at Northeast Slingshots in Pine Bush, NY will be completely overhauling his dealership plans to make all Slingshot teams aware that they will be doing body hanging, carb work, minor engine work and chassis checks to make sure everything is in line for your 2012 racing season. His added interest in getting new teams established and competitive will hopefully continue to see car counts at Accord, OVDT and the soon to be Orange County Fair Speedway Mini-Middletown grow. A service menu email will be heading my way that I will get to everyone, but all teams in that NY area will now have a dealer that wants to be more hands on in an attempt to keep everyone racing. For many the shipping cost savings alone, will be worth contacting Bob.

If you have news, parts or a trailer to sell, get it to me. My email record for sales has been exceptional and we do not take a percentage of anything sold.

Still awaiting the possible news from Kutztown.

Weekly track banquets are quickly approaching. Please thank everyone involved for giving us the chance to race at their speedways.

SPECIAL AWARD VOTING & MUCH MORE..

Myerstown, Pa., November 8th, 2011:  Please refrain from having everyone you know email me a Special Award vote. This is not for Aunt Betty, Grand pop Bob or the cashier at your local grocery store, it is for the driver or owner that is listed on my group email. This was the reason I had stopped this a few years ago. For the last time, if you are having someone that is not on my email list send me something ,it WILL NOT BE counted.

Now to let everyone know, the voting has been furious and we are taking into consideration all aspect of what the award means and that is why we are asking for your help with the BAC, the Sportsmanship and Hard Luck Awards, because you are racing against these drivers and teams and the respect shown from your peers most likely means a lot more than coming from me or Rich or Ron or Justin.

I'm working on the 2012 Tour Schedule and it looks like Speedweeks will begin again at Lindas and end at Hamlin. Shellhammers will be the date after Lindas to keep everyone close by and Hamlin will follow Selinsgrove which is done for the same reason.

The reorganization meeting that was planned by Rich, will still allow only 2 team members, but Rich is asking that questions be submitted to me before the meeting, so we have topics to start on and discuss.

The Canadians have asked me to thank all the teams in attendance at NES for their hospitality, clean racing and a chance to mix it up on a big track with the great drivers in our area. RevStar president Carl Labonte wants me to also congratulate Brett Bieber on winning the National Championship and wants me to inform everyone that the RevStar 1 will be entered in the Herr's Snack Bowl 25 along with a few other of our northern neighbor teams.

Brock Moore has applied for a National and Junior National to be held October 20th at Greenwood Valley next year. He is currently offering $400 to win the All Star National. More details to be worked on later.

The 2011 Slingshot National Season recap has been posted on our front page, and we also have sent it to South Jersey Dirt Racing, redbud69racing.com and also to Area Auto Racing News as well as to Barry Angstadt and Kyle Hardner.

Banquet tickets are ordered and I'll be picking them up early next week. The youth ticket price is being lowered from $40 to $37 for anyone 14 & under. I will not be asking for birth certificates, but please don't bring your college sophomore and pawn him or her off as 14.The adult ticket will remain at $45.Ticket will include an AYCE buffet, soda, awards ceremony, admission into the AACA Museum, entertainment and for anyone over 21 beer will be available, but there will be a cash bar for mixed drinks. Banquet time will run from 5:30 to 11 PM. Admission to the museum will begin earlier. Business casual dress suggested. The banquet is being held at the AACA Museum located on Rt 39 in Hershey, PA..

For anyone planning on taking photos of their award winner(s), please be ready to shoot photos with the photographers in attendance. Door prizes and Chinese Auction items will be gladly accepted and as in recent years, I will be sending 60 % of the money from the auction to the charity of choice of the All Star champion which this year is Brett Bieber and 40 % to the charity of choice by the Junior National champion Tyler Johnston. As soon as I get their choices I will make everyone aware. In recent years it has gone to the St. Jude's Children's Hospital, the Sparkman Fund, RAACE, the Humane Society and the National Cancer Society.

Last year donations from Fulper Racing, Shellhammers Speedway, S&S Speedway, SE, Lisa Gray, Cody Kline & NAPA, Fred Rahmer Racing, Dippel Racing Team, Dave McCullough, Strapped In Racing, Christman Meats and more.

THANK YOU, FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART

Myerstown, Pa., November 7th, 2011:  I personally want to thank each and everyone of you that made the trip to NES on Saturday. The mix-up between, the track, the state and us, had me wanting to head back to PA. The track general manager said he had approval from the state for the 14 year olds and they already have the youth insurance in place. The state approved of the 14 yr. olds at Bridgeport and AC ,but said the track was too big and decided against it, but thanks to Matt Carman and Travis Bieber, things worked out.

Now for the best part. Not 1 single caution lap was needed for any of the Slingshot races. Everyone that didn't attend ,you missed some fantastic side by side racing as well as the show put on by Travis Bieber coming from 11th to 6th at the halfway point and then proceeding to finish 2nd.giving the Buccafusca team the needed points to make the Elite 11.Matt Carman set a blistering pace in the Hocker 54B and with lap speeds over 80 MPH, the racing was incredible.

We used a dual heat format for the Pit Stop 20 feature lineup and inverted the back half of the running cars for the DS 12.Kyle Gruber, Carl Labonte and Brett Bieber finished under a blanket as the checkered was being thrown. CR Hill had one of the fastest times of the race in his yellow 0.

The fans flocked to the front stretch fence to watch the front running 7 get their RR tire changed. Justin Thompson was sitting in 5th,but his father Mike, did a NASCAR style tire change and Justin beat all team to the checkpoint and all lug nuts were tight. Congrats to Justin and the Slinger Warehouse 7 Team.

All of the NES officials were highly impressed with the ability of the Slingshot drivers to handle the big racing surface and make some incredible passes along the way. The 3 wide heading into turn 3 with Henry Anderson, Carl Labonte and Bobby Snyder was something many tracks dream of having during a racing program.

Thanks again, I was proud to be officiating an event run like this. Thanks to Jim Strouse for his multi-tasking of teching and being a turn official. The infield scale laid claim to 2 race teams and the weights could be seen by the fans as well.

Well here we are starting the 2nd week of November and after just over 10 months of racing, we can now name our 2011 Slingshot by Tobias All Star Champion. Brett Bieber from Oley, PA. Brett shared his driving duties in his championship season running 2 cars. The Marlin Bieber prepared # 32 with sponsorship coming from Kutztown NAPA, Tim Long Insurance, Alpine Building and Post Supply, Graber Lettering and the M Construction Co.. Paul Lotier,Jr. at Slinger Warehouse was also responsible for helping Brett's climb to the championship with the white # 17 used at quite a few races during the season. most notably Linda's and Penn Can.156 driver collected points for the National Championship with the Elite 11 being honored as well as regional, weekly track and Speedweeks top runners being honored at the January 7th SE Special Awards Banquet at AACA Museum on Rt 39 in Hershey, PA along with the Junior National Great 8.

Here is the Elite 11:
1.721 Brett Bieber $1200 + New Chassis & Body
2.678 Simon Egan $900
3.670 Matt Carman $ 700
4.669 Gary Hieber $ 575
5.648 Cody Kline $ 550
6.620 Shannon Smith $ 525
7.599 Michael Glass $ 500
8.597 Bill Weaver $ 500
9.586 Matt Mertz $ 500
10.530 JR Fulper $ 500
11.529 Danny Buccafusca $ 500

The 1 National provisional will be given for the Herr's Snack Bowl 25 at AC. Entries are being accepted by Sammons Motorsports at the Area Auto Racing News office. Don't be left out, Danny will be taking a guaranteed number of entries and holding the later ones in case of non-arrivals. The paid Thursday night practice is also part of the schedule. It is not mandatory, but still offered for all entries of all classes.

The Elite 11 will be sent to Weikel's Racewear for inclusion on the 2011 Champions shirts. Rich will be working on the NES payout when he returns from a visit to Lindas Speedway today. Still accepting Special Award votes from the email sent out last week.
